Our Friends group actively engages in a variety of fundraising efforts to ensure our downtown library has the resources it needs to thrive as a modern hub of learning and community engagement. These efforts provide critical supplemental funding to keep the library’s technology, equipment, and educational materials up-to-date and relevant in an ever-evolving world.

Little Free Libraries

New Port Richey’s Little Free Libraries are community-driven book-sharing boxes strategically placed throughout the city to promote literacy, foster a love for reading, and encourage a sense of community. These miniature libraries, part of the global Little Free Library movement, offer a simple yet impactful concept: “Take a Book, Leave a Book.” Each Little Free Library is uniquely designed, often featuring vibrant and creative artwork that reflects the character of its surrounding neighborhood. They provide 24/7 access to free books for all ages, including fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, and sometimes even local authors' works. Residents and visitors alike are welcome to contribute to or borrow from the collection, ensuring the shelves are continuously refreshed with new titles. These libraries are maintained by volunteers or “stewards” who oversee their upkeep, ensuring the community has ongoing access to books. Beyond the exchange of books, these small but powerful installations foster connections among neighbors, inspire lifelong learning, and serve as a reminder of the joy and importance of reading. Whether you’re exploring Sims Park, visiting a nearby café, or strolling through a local neighborhood, New Port Richey’s Little Free Libraries stand as beacons of knowledge, sharing, and community spirit.
